The young Poles attacked their rivals from the beginning, but it wasn't until the 35th minute that they scored their first goal. A high cross from Mateusz Cetnarski was finished effectively by Maciej Korzym, hitting the ball past Nicolas Hemmerle. Three minutes from half, Maciej Rybus found himself alone with the keeper, but his shot missed the net by only a few inches.
In the second half Poland gained a great advantage in terms of possession. In the 51st minute, Ariel Borysiuk hit a beautiful shot from 20 meters out, but only managed to hit the upright. Five minutes after that, Poland took a 2-0 lead when Maciej Rybus took the ball down the left flank and scored from 10 meters out.
A larger margin of victory was expected from this match. Poland will need to play better against their other rivals in this group (Spain, Holland, and Finland).
