- Maciej Zurawski has made the move from Greek side Larissa to Omonia Nicosia in Cyprus. The 32-year old has been brought to the Eastern Mediterranean island in hopes of helping Omonia qualify for the UEFA Europa League (the new name for the UEFA Cup).
- Mariusz Lewandowski has decided to skip on the friendlies in South Africa for family reasons. What these family reasons are, no one knows. He also mentioned an end-of-the-season party in Donieck, as well as the fact that Shaktar's training camp starts on June 20 as further reasons to skip out on the South Africa trip...
- ... and it has not taken long for Coach Leo Beenhakker to react. Describing the situation, Leo said that the friendlies are on official UEFA match dates, meaning that Shaktar had no choice in the matter. When asked for comment on the situation, Leo responded by saying, "Of course, when a player decides to stop playing for the NT, I have to respect his decision. After all, Radoslaw Sobolewski did the same. It was his choice. Will I call up Lewandowski again? We'll see..."
- A number of Bundesliga teams are in the hunt for 21-year old striker Robert Lewandowski. The Lech Poznan striker is high on the target list for Borussia Dortmund, whom he visited recently with his agent, but Hertha Berlin looks to be making a late charge as well.
